Get Back On the Merry Go Round

My roommates and I were talking tonight and Kim brought up and interesting metaphor, I liked the concept so I added some more detail to it:

Life is like a merry go round, you get on and spin at a nice relaxing pace for a while. Then all of a sudden there's the one kid who comes by and asks if he can join you, against your better judgement you say yes, knowing full well that this kid is much bigger and stronger then you and given the opportunity he will try to get you off the merry go round. You could have turned him down but no, your strong enough right? so you said yes. He starts spinning you and again you think to yourself "wow this is getting a little out of control" but you ignore it, thinking all will be well.

Before you know it you are spinning way to fast. You scream and tell them to slow down, you were comfortable with the pace you were at before. "Please go back to the way it was, I liked where I was at!" you say but they continue to spin you faster and faster until you fly off. Does he care? No. And now not only are you face down in the dirt with a skinned knee but now you have to run and try to get back on. All you want to do is give up, to break down and cry. But what good will that do? You will just have to work twice as hard to pick yourself up and catch up again.

Life likes to throw you off sometimes, but you have to decide to pick yourself up off the ground and get back on that merry go round as soon as you can.

Life doesn't stop or slow down for anyone.

Random I know, and it most likely doesn't make that much sense to anyone. But I guess all that matters is that it makes sense to me. Thanks for bearing with me :)

Just Relaxing :)

I am alive! After staying up until five and getting up and six forty five the morning after my last post I had no idea how I was going to function, like really who can function on just under two hours of sleep? Apparently I can, I didn't take a nap all day without the use of energy drinks or coke/pepsi. The next night I'm sad to report I went to bed late as well, but that was my own doing :P.

This week however has been filled with family, sleep, reading, texting, and overall a lazy time. I love it. But with the middle of the week coming quickly I need to get started on homework...lame. But for tonight I'm going to sit back, eat my mini wheats, and watch High School Musical :)

I also found this quote and liked it "Finish each day and be done with it. You have done what you could. Some blunders and absurdities no doubt crept in; forget them as soon as you can. Tomorrow is a new day; begin it well and serenely and with too high a spirit to be encumbered with your old nonsense"

There isn't much I can add to it, just that each day is a new day and we should treat it as such. Dwelling on yesterday doesn't do much for today, we must always move forward and not be bothered with yesterday or you might end up with empty tomorrows.

Long Night Ahead

Well it's almost midnight and what have I acomplished today? Three observations and a trip to the dollar store and the library. What do I need to have done before I can go to bed? Four more observations, three evaluations, an online quiz, a story about health/safety, and review for a group presentation for tomorrow...we'll see what time I get to bed (if I do). Anyways I just needed a break from my homework and to wake myself up. Only. Two. More. Days. Then I can sleeeep.

Gratitude List

Today I'm grateful for:
*The gospel-because without it I would be lost.
*The Holy Ghost-it comforts, whispers, and prompts me to be the best I can be. It also moves other people to do things for you, the person may not know why but through being in tune you might just make someone's day.
*Preisthood blessings-no matter who gives the blessing it all comes from the same place, the Lord knows what I need to hear and through his mouthpiece he tells me all I need to know.
*The Atonement-without it we could not hope to return to Heaven again.
*My parents-they are so understanding of me and I know that I can go to them with anything and they will be there to listen and make me feel better. I love and respect them so much.
*My roommates-they are two of my best friends and are always here for me, they are great and I'm grateful that we live together.
*Laughter-it makes you feel happier and instantly lifts your spirits :)
*Alone time-it gives you a chance to reflect.
*Music-again it lifts your spirits and helps to make you feel better and more in tune.
*My Savior-he died for me and for that I can never repay him, but because he suffered for me he understands when no one else can.
*Prayer-a way to talk and comunicate with my Father in Heaven.
*Scriptures-the way through which Heavenly Father can talk to me.
*Unconditional love-there's not much to say other then I'm grateful for it.
*Life-it's a learning experience but though experiences I can get stronger and grow every day.
*Weekends-a chance to rejuvinate yourself for the week ahead.
*Sleep-who doesn't love sleep?
*Books-reading is lovely, I love books.
*Forgiveness-no explanation necessary.

He'll Carry You

I was listening to some efy/church music today and decided to try to find one of the songs on youtube to post on my blog. However, the one song I wanted to find wasn't there but this song title jumped out at me and I decided to listen. I think this is my new favorite song; it's so comforting to hear and I hope that anyone who reads this post finds as much joy in the song as I have. Enjoy.

Quote

While I was at the dollar store last week I found this quote on a plaque; "Life is not a matter of milestones, but of moments". I bought it and it's now covering the hole in my wall but today I got to thinking how profound this quote is. Sometimes people (myself included) stumble through life just wanting to get to those milestones; becoming a teenager, turning sixteen, turning eighteen, graduation from high school, moving out, getting into and graduating from univeristy of college, getting married, having a family, ect. But do we really enjoy the small moments in life? I try to but, with most things in life, don't always succeed. But looking through old pictures and reflecting I realize that there were so many moments in my life that weren't really all that important but memories none the less. Stuff like being put into a giant pillar while we were decorating for grad, and tripping over my own feet at Julianna's and ending up on the floor in laughter. Things like that are so important to life but often overlooked. So I guess the reason for my speel  today is that I need to slow down, you only live life once so live in the moment and make the best of it :).

Our Home :)

So I came home yesterday and Kim had 'the look' in her eyes...the look like she was going to suggest we do something with our house, something that would be really hard to say no to. Well as you can see I said yes. But it was so worth it! Kalina, Kim, and I had the best time putting some nice touches to our already pretty cute home. Pictures don't really do it justice but here's a photo tour:

Our shelf, not new but notice we have a couple of frames filled as well as some books put on the shelf.
A tree to make that area look cuter (and cover up the plugs hooking into the back of our TV)

This is my favorite room now, who would've thought of putting a picture in the bathroom? But seriously it's so cool.

Kim added these in the window in the bathroom, so we have a beachy type thing going on.

Bobbi gave us this picture and it matched our travel theme perfect! (notice the clock that says London?) As well the lettering on the side is a nice touch :)

Just a cute picture, Kalina pretty much finds the sweetest photos :)

A palm tree in the kitchen

Kim put this one together, it's pretty fantastic in person.
There you have it, we always seem to be adding more but our house is looking more and more like a home. I love it and I love us :)
